Pants Lie

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

I came to a harsh and startling realization the other day:  my pants have been lying to me.  I know it’s hard to believe, but pants are liars. Big fat liars. I suspect dresses are liars too, but I have no first hand experience with dresses (why? what did you hear?)

Someone should have clued Hammer in,
his pants were lying to him for years…

No long ago when I started my one of my 6 Week Body Transformation programs, I asked all of the participants to take measurements.  For they guys, it was the waist I was interested in, for the women it was waist and hips.  So after one guy didn’t email me with his measurements I asked him during the session.

100 Rep Workout: The Game

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

For me, the name of the game is fast workouts. I should say fast, effective workouts (who wants a fast workout that doesn’t do s#^t right?). So I am always looking for creative ways to craft superior workouts that are quick,  effective and have the power to boost the metabolism for 24-48 hours.

As an added bonus I love it when they are portable (I can do it anywhere).

The other day I saw one of the trainers at my facility doing something kinda interesting with his clients.  So like any good boss I am stealing it and calling it my own (thanks Casey).

Ho Ho Hold on a Minute…

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Let me ask you, have you recently been mistaken for Santa (or Mrs.) Claus?

1222santa-on-the-scaleAre random kids jumping on your lap, telling you what they want for Christmas and that the have “good” all year?

Do people ask you where you parked your sleigh?

Are you shoes caked with crusty reindeer poop?

Are elves following you?

Are you unusually jolly?

When you laugh does anyone point and say “Hey look, a bowl full of jelly!”?

Yeah, there’s a lot of that going around this time of year.  And I can help you avoid further embarrassment and confusion.

Heart Warming News

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Did you ever have one of those days where everything went wrong?  From beginning to end, absolutely nothing went your way?  Those days seem to occur all to frequently.

Well yesterday was the exact OPPOSITE of that.

But let me start at what SHOULD have been the beginning of Gabe’s operation ordeal, last Friday.

(NOTE:  For those who missed the original posts, catch up by first reading Gabriel’s Heart, and then Put On Hold.)

Worst. Friday. Ever.

Thanksgiving UN-stuffing

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

The great day of eating yourself sleepy, giving thanks for all our blessing is nearly upon us.  If you recall, last year I adopted a particular Thanksgiving eating strategy that I think I will make a tradition.  You can re-check out that article here:  Happy Thanksgiving: "F" Moderation .  Read it, then come back here…

Thanksgiving at my house is slightly more civilized,
I mean we do not allow babies at the table.

But before you drown yourself in gravy, bury your self in mashed potatoes and  pound down any pie I suggest you earn it. Yes,  you must *EARN* that cheat.

Dem Bones

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Living your life by the roll of the dice.  Ooohh, it sounds so sexy and devious.

2111805581_6c03f2087eOk, that might be a bit much.

So while you might not want your fate determined by the toss of  dice, how about let it determine your workout?

I thought I would share with you one of my workout tricks.  It is pretty much an anywhere / anytime type of workout so it is great for when you are stuck at home or when you travel.

I call this workout “Dem Bones” and I use it when I need  to shake things up with clients & bootcamps

100 Reps, 4 Months & 52 Pounds

Monday, November 9th, 2009

John started on June 1st, 2009 at Carter Fitness.  As he has been Mr. Consistency (he never misses a session)  I had quite honestly completely forgotten what he looked like when he walked though my doors 4 months ago.

Then today John emailed me this pic to remind me:

Big John

I remember John told me on day 1 he was committed.  But again to be honest I hear that a lot.

But as it turns out “committed” is an understatement.

189 Reps of “ Why are you so old?”

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

I have been working out with Norm for years now.  7 years actually.  I never really cared that he was old until last week.  That was the first time his age affected me directly

Let me explain.

normbox Last week Norm turned 63.

He looks WAY  better than any 63 year old I have ever met.   (He calls himself my geriatric poster child.) But as Norm has a fair bit of crazy knocking around in his 63 year old melon he does not think he looks as good as he really does.

My Adorable Kids

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Last night my son Gabe was having some trouble getting to sleep. And as it turns out staying asleep.  Even when I went to bed at 11pm he was still tossing about.

Then around 4:30am I heard some rustling, I actually thought one of my boys was having a nightmare.  No, as it turns out Gabe and his 3 year old brother Nate were having breakfast on the floor of Gabe’s room. And it was of course spilled all over.

As you can imagine I was not pleased.  I warned them both that their new foster parents would not look kindly on such behavior.
