Insurmountable Wall of Death?

When it comes to fat loss and fitness, it can seem like you are climbing an endless wall of death.  Or maybe I should say endless wall of blubbery frustration.

President Bill Clinton said it best when he said “I feel your pain.”

Cheer up , Bill.

The thought of achieving your goals, whether it be fitness & fat loss (or whatever life your goal you might have) can seem insurmountable.

Well it is surmountable.  Way surmountable.  But the path can be long, uphill and not well marked.  Plus there might be pain involved. But no one expects you to do it alone.

Barbara - is that you?

I just read a post by my colleague and nutritional guru Jonny Bowden.  He wrote a piece (with accompanying video) on what he calls the Barbara Bush Syndrome.

Let me Cliff Note it here for you:

For the historically impaired,  before President George W. Bush, his daddy was our president – George H. W. Bush.  And our first lady was his wife, Barbara Bush.

Well the the powers that be behind the powers that be believed the first lady had an image issue.  For one thing she looked significantly older than the president, appearing more like his mother than his wife.  And as we all know, image is all that any cares about right?

The Kirstie Alley Effect

I’m sure you all remember Kirstie Alley as super stoic and sexy Vulcan, Lt. Saavik from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn.  Although I hear she also had some success on some little TV show about a bar where everyone knows your name…

Live long, and prosper.

Well wherever you remember her from, you probably know the story by now:  She got fat.

Twice.

I know as well as anyone that bodyweight can fluctuate throughout the year.  Life gets in the way and s^*t just happens.  My weight goes up and down and I do this crap for a living.  No one is perfect.

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day.

To the mothers of sons and to the mothers of daughters. To the mothers of canines, felines, equines and all kinds – this day is for you as well. And let us not forget the mothers to be for your mothering has already begun.

A special thank you for all that you do – and yes we notice even if we don’t say. And though we can never say it enough – from your children everywhere to you, mom – we love you.

I of course have two special mothers to thank. The first is my mother, Linda.

Crime & Peanuts

As you are probably aware if you have read anything of mine ever, you know that in my mind there is only one good and pure and perfect food in the whole world: peanut butter. (For those of you who are new :  I love peanut butter. I rationally know it is not perfect - but I still irrationally love it)

As you may also know, recently peanut butter has been getting a bad rap for making people sick.

Turns out there were multiple batches of the glorious goo that were tainted with salmonella - a potentially deadly bacteria. It has caused hundreds to get ill, and a it is even implicated in some deaths.

How you can be my next human billboard

Now is the time for you take full advantage of what Carter Fitness has to offer.

I’m looking for human billboard…  25 17 more of them to be exact.  So,  what is a human billboard and why would I need one?

I’ll get to that, but let me back up for a second.

I am excited to say I have put the finishing touches on my brand new “Twice the Results” or 2XR program and it is now ready for prime time. That’s right, I can now release it to the public and that means you.

Priority Report

I have spent the past week in beautiful El Dorado Hills, Ca, (just north of Sacramento) sponging off my younger brother Joe.

Joe and his wife Natascha have 2 kids, Anthony and Gavin, that are close enough in age to our 2 kids Gabe & Nate that they get along great even though they do not get to see each other often enough.

Joe & Tash love to cook and entertain, and I love to eat and be entertained so this has really worked out pretty well for me.

Happy Thanksgiving: "F" Moderation

That’s right, I said it: "F" moderation.

This year as I visit my brother and his family in El Dorado Hills Ca, (outside of Sacramento) I was thinking of the article I would write:  eat protein first, load up on veggies and go sparingly on the desserts.

F that.

Not this year.

This year has been a serious crap fest for a lot of people out there. There is enough for people to worry about without having to worry about what to (or not to) eat this Thanksgiving Holiday.

Transformation: Myles Style

This past week my family and I were fortunate enough to be chosen as part of the home makeover show, "Myles of Style".  The show’s host and main designer is Kim Myles.  She is accompanied by master contractor Anthony Gilardi and a small army of designers and contractors - not to mention a full film crew.

On the show, the Myles crew picks homeowners who have a sufficiently sucky room in the house that needs a serious transformation.  I can safely say that our master bedroom fit the bill perfectly, and Kim and crew agreed. Yeah, it was that bad.
