Venus & Mars: The Training

Smart trainers have long known that there are differences when you train men versus women.  Most studies have used men and assumed the results would transfer over to women. Not necessarily the case.

While men and women are *mostly* the same physiologically (certain exceptions immediately come to mind)  turns out there are some important differences below the surface.  I just read an interesting article in MSNBC about the current research and  findings regarding gender differences in training effects.

More Pants Lie

I go a huge response from article I wrote for the last newsletter entitled Pants Lie. So I thought I’s share with you some of the things I learned.

calvin klein One of my good friends is a marketing guru, and at some point had a meeting with a high level marketing person with Calvin Klein. They got to talking and she went on to tell how today’s size 2 is actually a size 4 from the 80’s. And as the sizes get bigger the gap gets larger. Example: today’s size 12 is a size 16 from the 80’s and the same applies for men.

Pants Lie

I came to a harsh and startling realization the other day:  my pants have been lying to me.  I know it’s hard to believe, but pants are liars. Big fat liars. I suspect dresses are liars too, but I have no first hand experience with dresses (why? what did you hear?)

No long ago when I started my one of my 6 Week Body Transformation programs, I asked all of the participants to take measurements.  For they guys, it was the waist I was interested in, for the women it was waist and hips.  So after one guy didn’t email me with his measurements I asked him during the session.

In Only 6 Weeks

As some of you know, I was recently hired by a major fitness company to transform the bodies of 15 participants.  Then the results were to be used in a national ad campaign.  They needed rapid and drastic fat loss in only  6 weeks, so they came to me.

Well last Friday & Saturday was the filming of the commercial and the results blew me away. 

I wish I could show you the before and after pictures, but I am waiting to make sure I have authorization.

I Don’t Know Who This Is, but I’m Impressed

I ran across this video on the internet the other day.  I don’t know who he is, how he worked out or what he ate, but he took a picture of himself everyday for a year.  Here is the first and last shots…

Pretty damn cool, but to see the transformation in action watch the video below.  You’ll notice it did not take him a full year to get rock hard abs.

Hey Jackie, Nice Butt!

Jackie has been working out with me for 4 weeks.  She is part of an ultra super uber top secret training program that I have been conducting.  I literally have been sworn to secrecy.  I am risking my life even mentioning it, but this story has to be told…

Jackie, along with 13 others have agreed to have their bodies transformed  over the course of a six week previously mentioned hush hush program.

I can’t talk about the training involved, or even the diet for that matter- but I will tell you the results have been outstanding.  When I can talk about it without penalty  – I will.

Take my wife, please

Sometimes people suck.  Especially thieves, they really suck.

Back when I was in college at UCLA, I had my a studio apartment.  It was about 400 square feet and  without a doubt a major  s^*t hole.  It was the first time I had ever lived truly on my own, no parents, no roommates nothing.

Just me.

As I was paying for it all myself I didn’t have much either, a crappy B&W TV, a crappy stereo and a crappy futon to sleep on and not much else.  I was living on cornflakes and tuna (and yes, sometimes together… yes, I know…) and driving a very manly lavender and black 50cc scooter.  Ah,  the good ‘ol days.

Insurmountable Wall of Death?

When it comes to fat loss and fitness, it can seem like you are climbing an endless wall of death.  Or maybe I should say endless wall of blubbery frustration.

President Bill Clinton said it best when he said “I feel your pain.”

The thought of achieving your goals, whether it be fitness & fat loss (or whatever life your goal you might have) can seem insurmountable. 

Well it is surmountable.  Way surmountable.  But the path can be long, uphill and not well marked.  Plus there might be pain involved. But no one expects you to do it alone.
